Our daily lives are getting busier and busier, aren't they? We're always swamped with work, things to study, news to catch up on and thousands of other responsibilities that come up every day.

So it is very common for us to look for ways to distract ourselves and entertain ourselves to make our days lighter and relieve some of the daily stress, and there are several options for this.

There are people who choose to read a book to travel without leaving their place and immerse themselves in the most different stories. There are people who choose to exercise to release all stress and renew themselves for the next day.

There are people who throw themselves into the world of TV series (which is not lacking with so many streaming services) and there are people who like to venture into the world of reality shows.

Big Brother Brasil, or known by many as simply BBB, is the most famous reality show in Brazil and despite having versions all over the world, ours is the one with the highest audience and voting records.

The reality show debuted in Brazil in 2002 under the command of Pedro Bial and is currently on air with the 23rd edition, now hosted by Tadeu Schmidt. 

Today we will tell you a little more about the reality show and how voting works and how you can vote and watch the most watched house in Brazil.

How did BBB become popular in Brazil?

Since its launch in 2002, Big Brother Brasil has become a craze among Brazilians. The idea of putting 15, 20 different people in one house had only been seen in Casa dos Artistas, a successful reality show on SBT.

Over the years, BBB gained a larger proportion and reached even more people while its prize increased. 

The program reached its peak audience in 2010, in the tenth edition of the program, but it lost some strength in the following editions, as many complained that it had become repetitive and that something was missing to renew the program.

Several dynamics were implemented in the following editions to attract the public back, from twins competing for a spot (17th edition) and a family that entered together to compete for the prize (18th edition).

It was only in the twentieth edition of the program in 2020 that BBB managed to bring something new that caught the public's attention, which was the competition divided between popcorn and boxes, also known as anonymous and invited.

The edition took on even greater direction with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, which put the entire country in quarantine and BBB broke audience and voting records.

BBB became one of the only new programs to remain on the air and the population stopped to watch a leader test, an elimination and vote for their favorites.

BBB 20 even entered the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest vote for a reality show, surpassing 1.5 billion votes in the wall contested between Manu Gavassi, Felipe Prior and Mari Gonzalez.

BBB Voting: How to vote on the program?

Every week, while it is on air, there are votes that are made by the public. The weekly vote is usually for the wall that puts 2 or more people and the public chooses one of them to eliminate from the program.

There are some other votes, like choosing someone for a fake elimination or some specific house dynamic.

A few years ago, voting was done via Globo's website, SMS and telephone, but with the explosion of the digital age, voting by telephone and SMS was removed, leaving only online voting.

The website to vote is https://gshow.globo.com/realities/bbb/bbb-23/ and there you will also find various news about the daily lives of the brothers and sisters and all the dynamics of the week.

To vote, a vote must be open, which usually happens every Sunday around 11:30 pm and goes until the same time on Tuesday, when the chosen participant is eliminated.

To vote, you also need to register on Globo's website, which can be done with an email address or linked to your Facebook. 

You can vote as many times as you want and there are even apps that help you duplicate your cell phone screen so you can vote faster.

BBB Voting | Where to watch BBB?

Globoplay

One of the biggest streaming services in Brazil, Globoplay has arrived to bring films, series, soap operas, newspapers and of course: Big Brother Brasil.

It works with the same functions as pay per view and releases 11 cameras from different rooms in the house that you can choose which one to watch.

All cameras are available 24 hours a day to watch in full and you can also watch programs that were shown on Globo and that you missed.

It is also possible to watch some older editions. BBB1, BBB20, BBB21 and BBB22 are available and you can find subscriptions starting at R$19.90 per month.

BBB Voting | Pay Per View

Just like Globoplay, Pay Per View allows you to access different cameras 24 hours a day and doesn't let you miss anything.

Pay per view subscriptions are usually made with the person's TV and internet operator, so prices can vary and when you subscribe, 5 channels are open on your TV that show all the activity in the house.

You can find subscriptions starting at R$24.90 from your operator.

Globe

You also have the option of watching everything important that happened on BBB day for free on Globo's open channel.

On the channel you can't choose which camera you want to access and you can't watch 24 hours a day, but you can watch the daily program that airs around 10:20 pm and shows the best moments and broadcasts the eliminations and leader's tests live.

BBB Voting | Multishow

The Multishow channel is another option for watching BBB. The channel is cable and must be contracted with your TV operator.

Although it does not show all the programs, it releases the program's cameras a few times a day for viewers to watch (around 30 minutes) and at the end of the edition on Globo, an extra 30 minutes are also shown for viewers to watch.
