This new update arrived recently and all institutions must make this update by March 6, 2023.

What is the new ID?

The new RG was created with the intention of increasing the security of Brazilians and avoiding cases of fraud and identity falsification that are increasingly common with the advancement of technology.

And the new RG was designed with this in mind and will now be accessible via a QR Code that will only be accessed by federal agencies such as the Supreme Court of Justice and the Federal Revenue Service.

The document will also have a serial number that will be unique for each one and this drastically reduces the chances of forgery, as the number will be linked to the original document and a forged document will not contain any information.

All this information that will now be present on the ID can only be confirmed and authenticated by public and federal agency employees.

As stated above, according to a federal decree, the new RG has until March 6, 2023 to be adapted in all security companies.

The new ID will be valid throughout the country and to be issued it will have to go through biometric authentication, further increasing its security.

What are the changes that come with the new RG?

It is important to say that the new RG does not only come with the proposal of being something safe, but also came with the intention of bringing improvements for Brazilian citizens.

Some of the changes that the new RG will bring are:

Inclusion of social name

It is common knowledge that unfortunately, transgender people still suffer a lot when it comes to being recognized for who they really are.

Since 2022, transgender people can change their social name within their civil registry and thus change their documents.

However, with this new change to the new RG, it will no longer be necessary for the person to have changed their civil registration to include their social name on their RG.

This can be done during biometrics and information authentication, making the person much more comfortable and with less bureaucracy.

Include other documents in your ID

Remember that at the beginning of the text we talked a little about how important it is to have all the documents and that at some point we need to present some other type of document?

With the new ID, everything has changed, as you can include several other documents within it and make your life much easier.

The CPF (individual taxpayer registration) number has been included on the ID card for a long time, but now several others can be included.

The documents that can be included in the new ID are:

Voter registration card;

National driver's license;

NIS/PIS number;

Work card number;

National health card;

Military certificate (reservist).

With all these new documents, it will be easier to have everything at all times and in all places, without needing anything more than a QR Code.

Include physical disability

It is extremely important that this information is included in a document, as it helps people know if that person needs any extra help or some type of special service.

Additionally, including physical disability helps in case the person needs emergency medical attention and no one is around.

Include blood type

Another important thing that can now be included in the new ID is each person's blood type, and this is important for several reasons.

One of the most important reasons is if someone needs emergency medical care and the first responder needs this information. This can make everything go more quickly and can help save lives.

It is also important that everyone knows their blood type so that they can help other people who may need it, because many people do not know their own blood type.

How and where to get a new ID?

Everyone has the right to update their new ID, but it is important to emphasize that this new model will start to be valid for new documents that will emerge and not yet for those who already have one.

The ID is valid for 10 years and when it is necessary to update yours, this new update will be made to yours as well.
