THE Water for All Program is an initiative of Federal Government which has already benefited thousands of families across the country. 

Its main objective is to reduce extreme poverty in Brazil, through measures that reduce drought and bring drinking water to drought-affected and vulnerable regions.

What is the importance of program

The Water for All Program is important for society in general for several reasons, including: 

✅Guarantee of the right to drinking water

Access to drinking water is a basic and fundamental human right, without a doubt.

Therefore, this initiative allows people who previously did not have access to drinking water to consume it without health risks.

✅Basic sanitation

Clean water and basic sanitation are essential to prevent water-related diseases such as diarrhea, cholera and hepatitis A. 

With the program, rural communities have better hygiene and sanitation conditions, ensuring the improvement of public health.

✅Increased agricultural production

Water is a fundamental resource for agriculture, especially in food production on small rural properties, of course. 

With access to water for irrigation and animal consumption, rural families have better production conditions, increasing production and income.

The Water for All Program also promotes sustainable development.

This is because it encourages the proper management of water resources and the rational use of water in productive activities, avoiding waste and negative effects on the environment.

✅Reducing poverty and social inequality

The lack of access to drinking water and adequate basic sanitation conditions mainly affects the poorest and most deprived rural populations. 

With the program, These children have the opportunity to improve their living conditions and overcome poverty and social inequality.

How to participate in the Water for All Program?

The Água Para Todos Program is aimed at serving rural communities throughout Brazil, so it is not possible for individuals to participate directly in the program. 

The actions are coordinated by local and state government agencies responsible for implementing the program.

For a community to be served by the program, it must be in a situation of water vulnerability, with difficulties in accessing water for human consumption and agricultural production.

However, city halls and bodies responsible for water management in each municipality are responsible for identifying and indicating the communities that most need the program. 

From there, a technical study is carried out to prepare the project and, subsequently, a tender is held to hire the company responsible for carrying out the works.

Therefore, if you live in a rural community that has not yet benefited from the program, the best way to seek information is through:

• city hall of your municipality; 
• local office of the São Francisco and Parnaíba Valleys Development Company (Codevasf)
• or the state agency responsible for implementing the program in your region.
