Who is entitled to BPC?

To be eligible for BPC, it is essential to meet certain criteria:

  • Be 65 years of age or older, or have some type of disability at any age.
  • Monthly family income less than 1/4 of the current minimum wage.
  • Permanent residence in Brazil, being a Brazilian citizen, naturalized or foreigner with legal residence.
  • Registration in CadÚnico for Government Social Programs.

Step by Step to Request BPC:

  1. Registration in CadÚnico: The first step is to register with CadÚnico, either at a CRAS in your municipality or through CadÚnico application.
  2. Social Assessment: After registration, a technical team will evaluate the data provided to verify eligibility for the benefit.
  3. Medical Expertise: People with disabilities will need to undergo a medical examination at the INSS, which will assess the condition of disability and the inability to work.
  4. Analysis and Approval: With all the data and results in hand, the INSS will analyze the request and, if approved, the benefit will be granted.

It is worth noting that the BPC does not constitute a retirement and, therefore, does not grant a 13th salary to beneficiaries. Proper information and following the appropriate procedures are essential to guarantee this benefit, which is essential for the quality of life of elderly people and people with disabilities in vulnerable situations.
