The Enem, or National High School Exam, is an educational assessment conducted annually in Brazil. It was created in 1998 by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and is administered by the National Institute of Studies and Educational Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP).

The Enem (National High School Exam) assesses students' performance at the end of high school, measuring their abilities in areas such as mathematics, languages, humanities, and natural sciences. It provides a score that can be used by higher education institutions as a selection criterion for undergraduate programs.

The score obtained on the exam is used by universities and colleges as part of the selection process, along with other criteria, such as entrance exams, quota systems and affirmative action programs.

The ENEM (National High School Exam) consists of four objective tests covering Languages, Codes and their Technologies, Human Sciences and their Technologies, Natural Sciences and their Technologies, and Mathematics and their Technologies. Participants must also write an essay.

The maximum score on the test is 1000 points in each of the four objective areas, totaling 4000 points, while the essay is evaluated on a scale of 0 to 1000.

Enem is one of the main educational assessments in Brazil and plays a fundamental role in higher education and in the formation of educational policies in the country.

The 2023 edition will take place on November 5th and 12th, taking place on Sundays.
