Before we get into the topic of “Gen V” it is important for you to know that the series did not come alone, but came as a spin-off of the series “The Boys” which is also an original series from Amazon Prime Video.

And in case you were wondering, “The Boys” was based on a successful comic book and “Gen V” comes from an arc called “We Gotta Go Now” that is present within one of the comics.

“The Boys” already has three seasons released and the fourth is already finished, ready to be released, probably in 2024, due to the release of Gen V.

“The Boys” is a series that exposes the excesses of the superhero world, where a greedy corporation controls powerful icons. A rebel group, “The Boys,” led by Billy Butcher, seeks justice and revenge against these corrupt super-beings who abuse their fame.

Hughie Campbell, newly joined by the group after a personal tragedy, and the members must face enormous challenges as they unmask the dark truth behind the heroic facade, showing the price of fame and the impact of impunity. The series mixes humor, intense action and social criticism, delving into the dark side of heroism.

One of the things that most catches the public's attention in “The Boys” is that it shows a different side of superheroes and not just the one that Marvel and DC show of good and charitable superheroes.

What is the story of Gen V?

The story of “Gen V” has connections to “The Boys”, but manages to bring an originality to it to keep the story interesting.

In the series we meet a new generation of heroes who are at the prestigious Godolkin University which is special and made only for superheroes and there they are trained to become the next profitable generation of superheroes.

Managed by Vought (the same corporation that manages the greatest heroes in 'The Boys'), the institution welcomes teenagers with special powers and whose hormones are raging as they will be trained daily, both physically and mentally, as well as sexually and morally.

During their studies, students must fight to stand out and thus get better contracts in the future. During this process, they also deal with the routine of university students, which includes exams, schoolwork, parties and meetings.

A group of teenage students begin to realize that something strange is happening at college and together they decide to find out what it is, but this will test whether they are really heroes or villains like many others.
