Como participar do programa de erradicação do trabalho infantil

THE Child Labor Eradication Program It is a Brazilian government program whose main objective is to eradicate child labor in the country.

Its importance is fundamental, as child labor is a serious violation of the rights of children and adolescents.

This practice compromises their physical, mental, emotional and educational development, in addition to placing them in situations of risk and exploitation.

THE PETI acts in several ways to combat child labor, including:

  • Identification and removal of children and adolescents in situations of child labor;
  • Inclusion of these children and adolescents in social and educational programs;
  • Carrying out awareness-raising and social mobilization actions to prevent child labor;
  • Monitoring and motivation of employers who use child labor.

In this way, PETI is an important tool to guarantee the rights of children and adolescents and contribute to the social and economic development of the country.

How to participate in the Child Labor Eradication Program?

There are different ways to participate in the Child Labor Eradication Program (PETI), either as a beneficiary or as a collaborator.

Below, I describe some possibilities:

As a beneficiary

PETI works in partnership with municipalities to identify and remove children and adolescents in situations of child labor, in addition to including them in social and educational programs.

It is very important that these families are registered at the Social Assistance Reference Center, that is, CRAS.

By registering with PETI, your family will have access to benefits such as income transfer programs, support for education and health, and psychosocial support.

Furthermore, children and adolescents who have suffered from child labor will have the opportunity to attend school and participate in leisure and cultural activities, ensuring their comprehensive development.

Therefore, if you know any child or adolescent in a situation of child labor, you can contact the Guardianship Council or the Social Welfare Department in your municipality to request help.

PETI also relies on the collaboration of professionals and volunteers who wish to contribute to the eradication of child labor.

Some forms of participation include, for example:

  • Social mobilizer;
  • Social protection;
  • Participation in actions and inspections.
