Who can receive Maternity Allowance?

This program is also known as maternity leave or maternity pay and is provided by the INSS for women who have been away from work due to the birth of a child, non-criminal abortion or adoption process.

To exercise her right to maternity pay, a woman must meet certain requirements. They are:

  • Be employed under the CLT regime;
  • Being an optional and individual contributor (including MEI);
  • Unemployed with insured status;

Who can receive BPC?

The Continuous Benefit Payment pays a minimum wage per month to the elderly and people with physical, mental, intellectual or sensory disabilities.

BPC is not a retirement benefit, therefore, to receive it, It is not necessary to have contributed to the INSS. However, this benefit, too does not pay 13º and does not leave a survivor's pension for dependents.

To receive BPC, you must meet some requirements:

  • Being an elderly person aged 65 or over, with low income, or in a vulnerable state;
  • Have some type of long-term disability (no age limit);
  • That the income per person in the family is less than ¼ of the minimum wage. That is, R$ 275.00;
  • Being in a situation of poverty or social vulnerability;
  • Not engaging in paid activity or being a Microentrepreneur;
  • Have all family members registered in CadÚnico before applying for the benefit.
