If there's one thing most people love, it's being in the company of good music. It's very difficult to find someone who will tell you that they don't like listening to music or that they don't have a playlist or something saved for a specific moment in their life.

Thanks to streaming services, there are streaming services for almost everything these days, and music is no different. They make it much easier to access music and even globalize more musical genres and more artists, as it is now possible to listen to artists from all over the world in a very simple and quick way.

Of course, in the past we had YouTube which played this role, but it was harder to find out about artists from around the world since you had to search for them and now you can find playlists divided by country or focused on a musical genre that you liked to listen to.

One of the most successful streaming apps when it comes to music is Spotify, which arrived in Brazil in 2014, but began to gain greater popularity in 2016 and today has more than 44 million subscribers in Latin America.

Within Spotify you can find playlists, podcasts, full albums and charts divided by country to find out what's trending in that region, as well as playlists that feature viral songs, that is, those that are going viral on the internet.

The platform is always looking for a way to innovate and bring more tools to its users and recently Spotify Jam arrived, which allows you to listen to music in a group, but what would that be and how would it be possible?

That’s what you’ll discover in today’s text. In addition to finding out a little more about what Spotify is, we’ll update you on everything about this new tool and what its functions are.

Spotify is a digital music streaming platform that has revolutionized the way people consume and share music. Launched in 2008, Spotify offers users access to a vast library of music from a variety of genres, artists, and eras, all available online.

The service uses a free business model, allowing users to choose between a free version with ads and functionality limitations or a paid premium version that offers benefits such as ad-free playback, offline downloads and better audio quality.

Spotify uses advanced algorithms to create personalized playlists based on each user’s musical preferences, making discovering new music and artists a more personalized experience. Additionally, users can create their own playlists, share them with friends, and follow other users’ playlists.

The platform also offers podcasts, audiobooks and other audio content, expanding its offering beyond music. Users can explore a variety of themes and topics, enriching their entertainment experience.

Spotify has become one of the largest music streaming platforms in the world, with millions of users worldwide. It has also partnered with record labels and artists to make exclusive releases and albums available before other streaming services.

Its user-friendly interface and extensive catalog have made it a popular choice for music lovers, providing a convenient and affordable way to enjoy music anytime, anywhere.

What is Spotify Jam?

On September 26, 2023, Spotify launched a tool called Spotify Jam that allows you to create shared playlists with your friends and family and listen to music as a group.

The feature allows Premium users to invite other users, whether they are premium or free, to add songs to a list and the application itself can make musical suggestions for that list, bringing together everyone's tastes, even if their musical tastes are very different from each other.

The feature allows you to invite up to 32 people to be part of this list and everyone has access to who added what to that playlist.

You can share the link to this group via QR code or via Bluetooth and this feature was created with the intention of bringing people together through music and also with the intention of more people getting to know more artists and musical genres.

This way, it becomes easier to create a playlist that everyone will enjoy at that family gathering or barbecue.

Spotify's director gave a recent interview stating that they decided to launch this new feature as a way to add even more personalization within the platform that is already well known for this.

If you're interested, you must be dying to know how to use it, right? We'll explain everything to you.

To access Jam, simply choose a playlist or a specific song within Spotify, then simply click on the speaker button at the bottom of the screen or on the three-dot menu at the top of the screen and then choose the “Start Jam” option.

The person responsible for the list can also select which device the music will play on, whether it be on their own cell phone, on a device like Alexa or on a nearby speaker, and everyone connected to the same Wi-Fi as you will be automatically invited to open Spotify and join the Jam.

The owner of this Jam can also choose which of these people will have access to the playback queue, that is: he can choose who chooses the order of the songs and whether or not these people can remove any track that is in the waiting queue.

You can also turn on “Guests Control” mode, which gives everyone in that Jam access to remove songs from the queue, change the order, and add songs to the queue, but if this mode is disabled, only the Jam creator can change this order.

Conclusion

Now you know everything you need to know about Spotify and its new Jam feature and you can try it out with your friends and family.
