How does the Nest Egg Program work?

Firstly, Pé-de-meia is a program that aims to provide financial and educational incentives to Brazilian students.

This initiative seeks to promote the retention and completion of school for students enrolled in high school.

Therefore, the idea behind this incentive, in addition to staying in school, is to make the process more democratic and reduce social inequality among young people in the high school system.

In fact, this program, in addition to promoting greater inclusion through education, will stimulate social mobility.

In short, the government will pay up to R$9,200 through the program for students who complete their studies.

According to the Ministry of Education, the expectation is that Pé-de-Meia will serve more than 2.5 million students.

Who is the target audience for Pé-de-Meia?

This program has a specific target audience, see how it works:

  • Students aged 14 to 24, from low-income backgrounds and enrolled in public high schools;
  • Belong to families registered in Family Grant Program;
  • In addition to the situation of social vulnerability, it is a condition for access to the student's registration in the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF).

Incentives of the Nest Egg Program

Incentives are the key point of the program to encourage students.

  1. Enrollment incentive: 200 reais paid in a single installment, for enrollment registered at the beginning of the school year, paid once a year;
  2. Encourage attendance: 1,800 divided into 9 installments of 200 reais, for attendance of 80% of the total number of teaching hours, measured by the student's average or monthly attendance;
  3. Incentive for Enem: 200 reais paid in a single installment, for proven participation in the National High School Exam, payment depends on the high school completion certificate;
  4. Encouragement to completion: 1000 reais paid in a single installment, for completion of high school with approval and participation in educational assessments, the deposit will depend on the high school completion certificate.

In short, it is worth noting that the incentives will only be paid into an account automatically opened in the student's name.

About the collaboration

Initially, the federal, state, district and municipal EM offering networks must assist and provide the information necessary for the development of the program.

Therefore, they are responsible for collecting and informing the MEC through the students' personal data system, to open the account.

In this sense, through this data, the MEC can define the public that will be covered, as well as ensure compliance with the requirements necessary for payment.

The incentive payrolls will be paid through Caixa Econômica Federal, which is responsible for the payments.

See how the employee process works:

  1. Networks collect student data;
  2. Networks in the management system inform the MEC of student data;
  3. MEC filters those eligible and sends the information to Caixa Econômica Federal;
  4. Caixa Econômica Federal opens the account and makes the payments.

How does membership work?
