Although it is not a benefit present throughout the country, it makes a difference in the lives of many Brazilians.

Read the text and see how it works and its main features.

    How does the First Step Project work?

    The first 5 years of our life, also known as “Early Childhood”, is one of the most important moments for our development.

    It is during this period that the child's brain develops rapidly, feeling the effects of everything around it.

    Therefore, ensuring a safe, stimulating and welcoming environment for children at this stage is fundamental for their full development and their future.

    In this context, the Salvador City Hall's First Step Project emerges as an essential initiative to guarantee access to quality early childhood education for children from low-income families in the municipality.

    Through a monthly financial aid of R$65.00, combined with education and health actions for families, the program aims to provide a happier, healthier and more promising early childhood for children.

    Although it is a considerably low amount, it makes a difference in the lives of the beneficiaries.

    The program's paying agent is Caixa Econômica Federal, but the resources come from Salvador City Hall funds.

    Who is it for?

    This benefit is interesting because it includes the beneficiaries of Family Allowance, but only those who were unable to secure places in daycare centers or public schools.

    Therefore, if you fall into this situation, know that you are entitled to receive this benefit.

    What are the conditions of the First Step Project?

    Despite having a specific target audience, it is also necessary to meet the program's conditions to receive the financial resource.

    In this topic we will show you what these conditions are.

    The first is the number of children, the limit is three children per family, up to 5 years old.

    In the case of twins, the limit may be exceeded.

    As this is a benefit paid to Bolsa Família beneficiaries, it is important to keep the data in CadÚnico always up to date.

    Furthermore, it is essential to comply with the conditions of this program, so as not to be left without and also to continue having access to the First Step Project.

    Who cannot participate?

    In addition to the conditions, you need to check that you are not part of the group that cannot participate.

    So, see below who is part of this group:

    • Children enrolled in public daycare centers or those affiliated with the city government;
    • Children who live in places where there are vacancies;
    • Parents who have access to childcare assistance paid for by their employer;
    • Parents who have withdrawn their children from public schools or available partner daycare centers.

    Other than that, children who did so between the first day of January and the last day of March of the benefit payment year are no longer eligible.

    How to participate in the First Step Project?

    The first step is to schedule an appointment. You can schedule it through the website Digital Savior, which replaced the old Hora Marcada.

    Another way to schedule an appointment is at one of the 10 service points provided by the city hall.

    Service at these service points is available from Monday to Friday, during business hours.

    After scheduling, go to the service point at the scheduled time and date to complete your registration.

    It is essential to bring your original documents and those of dependents under 5 years of age.

    In addition, it will be necessary to present proof of residence, preferably from Coelba or Embasa.

    If your child is enrolled in a private school, because there are no vacancies in the public school, he/she can also participate in the First Step Project.

    However, it is necessary to bring proof of payment and an updated certificate of attendance.

    Then, just wait, as you will be notified about the release of the benefit and you will receive the card to make withdrawals.

    To continue participating in the project, the family must re-register every six months and participate in social, health and education actions promoted by the city government in schools.

    You can ask more questions or check the addresses of the service points on the website at project page on the city hall website.
